Faculty of Economics

The Faculty of Economics at the Agricultural University – Plovdiv was established in 1995 with the strategic mission to add value to the society by training students in accordance with the business needs; to create specialists with professional and personal qualities who can quickly find a job in the field of their studies, contributing to the sustainability and competitiveness of Bulgarian economy.

In the past 25 years, the Faculty of Economics has not only shown sustainable development, but also has become one of the leading educational institutions in the field of agricultural economics, tourism, regional development and the modern business sciences, such as marketing, e-commerce, financial management and accounting, bioeconomics, etc.

The constantly improving experimental and educational infrastructure of the Agricultural University, the professional level of the teachers, the integration of the teaching process with scientific research, the hundreds of national and international projects involving students, PhD students and lecturers, the participation of experts and business representatives in student training, the opportunities for spending a study period in the most prestigious European universities, all that maintain and improve the quality of the teaching process and scientific research at the Faculty of Economics. 

The Faculty of Economics comprises the following departments: Economics; Management and Marketing; Mathematics and IT; Tourism.

The academic staff consists of 40 members, out of them 4 full-time professors and 18 associate professors. Administrative work is supported by five experts.

Bachelor’s degree programmes:
• Agricultural Economics
• Business Economics
• Rural Tourism
• Economics and management of regional development
• Bioeconomics (being developed for 2021-2022 academic year).

Master’s programmes:
• Financial management and accounting
• Management of Tourism
• Agricultural Marketing
• E-commerce
• Economics and Management of European Agriculture and Rural Areas. 

Doctoral programmes:
• Economics and management
• Organization and management of production.

Students and PhD students have the opportunity to study for 1 or 2 semesters at over 50 of the most prestigious universities in Europe under the Erasmus+ programme, receiving a mobility grant. Upon graduation they are issued a European Diploma Supplement. 

Students and PhD students can also apply for traineeship mobility, receiving an Erasmus+ grant and additional payment from the companies, in which they practice.

All the study programmes are accredited by the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency. The diplomas are recognized in the European Union and worldwide.
