Department of Management and Marketing

The Department of Management and Marketing has been operating in the structure of the Faculty of Economics at the Agricultural University Plovdiv since 1993. At present, the department consists of 7 lecturers - 2 professors and 5 associate professors.

History:

Since the establishment of the Faculty of Agronomy in 1947, the Department of Economics and Organization of Agricultural Enterprises has been developed. In 1963 the Department of Organization of Agricultural Enterprises was founded. In 1993 it was renamed to the Department of Management and Marketing.

Academic and teaching activities: the department provides more than 20 courses offered to students enrolled in Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes (full-time and part-time modes of study). The main subjects offered by the department are: Basics of Management; Strategic Management; Human Resources Management; Marketing; Agricultural Management, Organization and Management of Agricultural Enterprises; Marketing of Organic Products; Project Management; Development of Investment Business Projects; Entrepreneurship; Economic Analysis, Market Surveys, etc.

The Department has developed Master's degree programme “Agricultural marketing”.

The department`s main purpose of training is to prepare specialists with solid managerial knowledge and professional competence, who have prospective career opportunities as managers, managers of different levels at agricultural holdings and agrarian institutions, experts and consultants in the agrarian business.

The research work of the academic staff, postgraduates and undergraduates of the department is related to the successful participation in a number of university, national and international projects and forums. The main research areas of the department are: organization and management of regional clusters, development of investment business projects; preparation of a marketing strategy for organic products, management problems and environmental protection; integrated institutions for agricultural and rural development; development of multifunctional agriculture; institutional problems related to the management of natural resources; organization and management of human resources, competitiveness of conventional and organic agricultural products, etc.

The academic staff members are regularly participants in many world and European scientific forums, mainly related to participation in international projects.
