Non-infectious diseases in plants

Facultative discipline for the master’s specialty “Plant protection”.

The discipline Non-infectious diseases in plants presents to the students the pathological processes and disorders caused by abiotic stress factors of the environment. The lectures introduce the structural and functional damages in plants which occur as a result of drought or water excess, low and high temperatures, mineral deficits or surplus, herbicide phytotoxicity and others, as well as the possibilities to shield and/or recover plants through application of biostimulants, foliar fertilizers, and products for plant protection. The practical exercises teach the students to recognize the symptoms for visual diagnostics of plant diseases, as well as to use instrumental methods for assessment of the physiological status of plants. In the included seminars the physiological and agronomic effects of various products for prevention and or mitigation of non-infectious diseases are discussed.
