Herbology

Weeds are main factor with negative influence in the modern agriculture. They emerge annually and in all areas. They cause enormous damage to agricultural production. The weeds are crop competitors in terms of all vegetation factors.

The course of Herbology studies the classification, biological and ecological characteristics of weeds and their harmful effects on crops. In the separate parts of herbology the main units of integrated weed control are studied - the precautionary and preventive measures, the agro-technical and agrophysical methods of weed control, the possibilities for biological weed control.

Chemical weed control is a major part of herbology. The classification of herbicides, the mechanisms of phytotoxicity and their selective action and their persistence, rules, methods, techniques and technology of their application are studied. Another major section of the course is the study of integrated weed control systems in the main crop groups – field crops, vegetable crops, essential crops, oil crops, orchards and vineyards.
