Agricultural University – Plovdiv hosted the BEAMING Summer School

From 8 to 10 July 2026, the Agricultural University – Plovdiv hosted the BEAMING Summer School, dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusive innovation in higher education.
Throughout the three-day programme, participants enhanced their knowledge of the fundamental principles of inclusive innovation culture in higher education institutions within the field of the bioeconomy. A key focus was placed on project-based learning as an educational approach that encourages the development of practical solutions, critical thinking, and active learner engagement.
Among the main discussion topics was the development of a network-oriented academic culture, where students and academic staff collaborate as a connected community. Special attention was given to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that contribute to creating an accessible, fair, and supportive learning environment. Participants also explored good practices and mechanisms for active participation that foster engagement, collaboration, and the co-creation of knowledge.
The programme further addressed innovative curriculum design, the implementation of interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning, and the creation of psychologically safe learning environments where mistakes are viewed as valuable opportunities for learning and growth. All teaching practices presented during the Summer School were aimed at strengthening inclusive education in support of sustainable development.
