The Centre for Cleantech and Biomass Resource Efficiency (CCBRE) at the Plovdiv Agricultural University invites applications for the position of Group Leader for Research and Development in Agricultural Chemistry. This leading position involves comprehensive project management, supervision of PhD students and active participation in the development of the institutional infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administrative and scientific management of 2 challenging research projects on phosphorus recovery and production of new organic recycling fertilisers and co-management of a third research project on the suppression of microplastic mobility.
• Leading a small research team focusing on agricultural chemistry within the ERA Chair Research Programme and supporting junior scientists and PhD students.
• Management, maintenance and further development of a new laboratory for environmental chemistry.
• Independently manage the administrative and organisational aspects of existing and newly acquired projects and prepare detailed project reports.
• Acquisition, management and implementation of new R&D projects in the field of environmental and agricultural chemistry.
• Ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of the Institute's infrastructure.
• Providing technical advice to local companies, providing technical information and supporting the organisation of events.
Requirements:
• At least a Ph.D. or Associate Professor in Chemistry, Agrochemistry, Crop Protection or a closely related field with proven national and international experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar position, including a solid track record of leadership and management and project acquisition.
• Fluency in Bulgarian and very good knowledge of English. German or other languages are an advantage.
• Reliability, commitment, teamwork, customer focus, flexibility and independence.
Position Start Date
The position is available from January 2025 onwards.

Terms and conditions of salary
The starting annual salary is €4,100 per month, making a total of €49,200 per year.
