Pomology

The Pomology discipline introduces students to regionalized and promising Bulgarian and foreign cultivars, determined for the creation of new orchards in our country. The characteristic pomological marks of the fruits are studied. In the case of individual cultivars, great attention is paid to: the biological features, the requirements for soil-climatic conditions and agricultural techniques, the possibilities of storing the fruits, the sensityvity towards economically important pests and diseases, as well as the economic qualities of the fruits (with regard to meeting the needs of the market with quality production in fresh and processed state).
