Center for Support of Students with Special Educational Needs

The Center was established with the aim of developing and implementing policies, programs, and strategies to:

  • Study the needs of students and doctoral candidates with special educational needs at the Agricultural University – Plovdiv;
  • Create conditions for the full integration of students and doctoral candidates with special educational needs into the student community and academic life;
  • Ensure the active participation of students and doctoral candidates with special educational needs in the educational process;
  • Develop programs utilizing the capacity and resources of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv for therapy and rehabilitation of people with disabilities and special needs.

Activities

  • Conduct annual surveys to identify the profile of newly admitted students and determine the presence of those with special educational needs;
  • When students with special educational needs are identified, collaborate with the Academic Affairs Department to prioritize their courses and group activities in classrooms and halls that provide accessible facilities;
  • Engage students to actively assist their peers with special educational needs in their integration into academic life and the educational process;
  • Encourage teaching staff to ensure practical training sessions allow full participation of students with special educational needs;
  • Evaluate the learning environment, facilities for self-study, recreation, etc., and propose adaptations to the leadership of the Agricultural University for their use by students and doctoral candidates with special educational needs;
  • Research global and national practices, availability of specialized educational materials, software, and teaching aids with adapted content, and submit proposals to the Rector's Office for their implementation at the Agricultural University – Plovdiv;
  • Train academic staff and administrative personnel on approaches for working with students with special educational needs, identifying their specific requirements, and developing measures within respective departments or disciplines;
  • Develop initiatives to involve students with special educational needs in extracurricular activities and events.
