AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY - PLOVDIV HOSTED THE NATIONAL ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE BULGARIAN LIBRARY AND INFORMATION ASSOCIATION (BLIA)

The national annual conference of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association (BLIA) on the topic "Library policies and libraries in policies" took place in the Aula of the Agrarian University - Plovdiv, with the university library hosting the event on the days of 06.08-09.2023. The event was held with the support of EBSCO Information Services and RICE.

The conference was opened by Dr. Petya Georgieva, director of the Library of AU - Plovdiv, who introduced the official guests: Prof. Hristina Yancheva, rector of AU - Plovdiv; Prof. Vladislav Popov, Deputy Rector for Scientific Activities of AU - Plovdiv; Assoc. Dr. Aneta Doncheva, president of BLIA; Spaska Tarandova, executive director of FGLB; Ph.D. Silva Nalbantyan-Khacheryan, Director of the Directorate "International Cooperation, European Programs and Regional Activities," and Prof. Hristina Bogova, Dean of the Faculty of Library Science and Cultural Heritage of UniLIT.
Nearly 120 library specialists from all over the country attended the event.

The Agricultural University rector, Prof. Hristina Yancheva, noted the importance of libraries for higher education and wished success at the two-day conference.

Prof. Hristina Bogovo from UniLIT presented a congratulatory address to BLIA and the hosts.
South African Ph.D. student introduced the University Library of Agricultural University Rakobeli Joseph Senoko, who emphasized the access to specialized literature that the library provides and how useful they are for research work.

An exhibition dedicated to the case of Snezhana Yaneva, former president of BLIA, was shown in the Rector's lobby.

Colleagues Snezhanka Staykova and Kristina Dimitrova presented their participation in "Erasmus Staff Training Week for Librarians 2023", which took place in Maribor, Slovenia, on 29.05-02.06. 2023 as an example of successful European policies among university libraries.

On the second day of the conference, library specialists from Bulgaria had the opportunity to visit the Wine Cellar of the Agricultural University in the village of Brestnik, which was a "green" end to the event.
