The Library of the Agricultural University marked the International Day of Philanthropy for the first time

On September 5, 2024, the Library of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv celebrated the International Day of Philanthropy for the first time by presenting an honorary certificate to one of its long-time donors – the botanist Prof. Dr. Stefan Stanev.

The event took place in the foyer of the University Library. The ceremony was opened by the Library Director, Dr. Petya Georgieva. Assoc. Prof. Pelo Mihaylov from the Department of Tourism spoke about modern-day philanthropy toward libraries. He then briefly highlighted Prof. Dr. Stefan Stanev’s long-standing contributions and donations to the University Library. In the library display cases, all of Stefan Stanev’s books held in the collection were exhibited, with some opened to the title pages showing the author’s autograph and dedication.

        

The Rector of the Agricultural University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boryana Ivanova presented Prof. Stanev with an Honorary Certificate for his long-standing contribution as a donor in enriching the University Library’s collection with valuable scientific literature in the field of botany. She thanked him for all he had done as a benefactor for society, and in particular, for the University Library, wishing him good health and continued success.
