Symposium "Addressing Climate Risks and Challenges in Eastern Europe''

This symposium aims to foster a collaborative and action-oriented dialogue among key stakeholders to develop a shared vision and practical pathways for handling climate change in Eastern Europe. The symposium will be structured around a set of key thematic pillars. Some of them are:       

  • Transboundary Water Management and Drought Resilience
  • Forest Management and the Dual Threat of Pests & Wildfires
  • Climate-Smart Agriculture and Soil Conservation
  • Just Transition in Coal-Dependent Regions
  • Resilience of Soviet-Era Infrastructure
  • Balkan Flood Risk and Flash Flood Management
  • Carpathian Mountains as a Climate Refuge and Biodiversity Hotspot
  • Urban Heat Islands and Public Health in Eastern European Cities
  • Financing the Transition: Accessing EU Green Deal Funds and International Climate Finance
  • Regional Energy Security through Renewable Integration
  • Publishing opportunity

Papers admitted to the event and presented at it may be submitted to the Book "Addressing Climate Risks and Challenges in Eastern Europe.  This will be published by Springer Nature as part of the Climate Change Management Series, the leading peer-reviewed book series on matters related to climate change. 

Submission Guidelines

There are two possibilities for attending the symposium:

2. By delivering an oral presentation: Researchers may submit any complete, original, and unpublished research papers, either conceptual or empirical. To participate, participants need to submit an abstract of 200 to 300 words, along with the authors' names and full contact details via the following form: https://forms.office.com/e/du3...

Registration Deadline: 30 June 2026

Full paper submission for the Book (after the symposium): 30 September 2026
